The Lois Elaine Rochford Scholarship Award

This scholarship is awarded annually in honor of the memory of the late Lois Elaine Rochford, a woman of love, compassion, humility and exquisite style. Born and raised in Brooklyn's Brownsville neighborhood, Lois believed in giving back to the community and she had a passion for empowering and encouraging young people. This scholarship will be awarded to college bound young people who live in New York.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA or 80 average (Please provide an official transcript) 

  • Recipients MUST currently reside in New York. (Must provide proof of residency.)

  • Must be enrolled full-time in an associate's/bachelor’s/vocational program at an accredited higher education institution in Fall 2024. (Must provide proof of enrollment, i.e. school ID or letter of acceptance)

  • A 250-500 word essay answering this question,
    “How do you plan to use your education to give back to your community?”

  • 1 Letter of Recommendation from a teacher or academic advisor

  • This scholarship is open to any major.

  • All supporting documents (letter of recommendation, transcript, school enrollment) can be emailed to mel@loisrochfordfoundation.org by the deadline of 6/21/24 at 11:59pm.

The 2024 application is now open and the winner will be announced in June.
